Back-to-School Prep Starts Now: 3 Zones to Tackle Before the Rush
A Smarter, Smoother Start to the School Year

The school supply lists are out, and before you know it, school will be back in session. The good news? You don’t have to wait until the week before school starts to feel ready. A little bit of organizing now means a much calmer transition later.
We always recommend starting small — one space at a time — rather than trying to overhaul the whole house in a weekend. Here are three zones worth tackling first.
1. The Entryway
This is the first space your family touches every morning and the last one before bed. A simple system — hooks at kid height, a bin for shoes, a spot for backpacks — saves you from the daily “where is my…” scramble. Start with just one wall or one bench. You don’t need a full renovation, just a clear landing spot for the things that leave the house with you.
2. The Closet
Summer clothes are still in heavy rotation, but it’s worth doing a quick edit now. Pull out anything outgrown or worn through, and sort what’s left by category. When school clothes shopping happens, you’ll know exactly what gaps to fill — no duplicate purchases, no overstuffed drawers.
3. The Homework Zone
Whether it’s a desk, a kitchen corner, or a shared table, homework works better when supplies have a home. A small caddy for pencils, paper, and a charger keeps everything within reach so evenings don’t start with a hunt for a working pen.
Starting now, while there’s still some breathing room in the calendar, means these systems are already in place — and already working — by the time the first day of school arrives. No last-minute scramble, no overwhelm, just one calm space leading to the next.
If you’d rather hand this off, we’re happy to help with entryways, closets, or homework zones — whatever needs the most attention before the new school year starts.
